St. Louis Firefighters 2025 General Election Endorsements
Thank you for taking the time to view the endorsements of St. Louis Firefighters Local 73. Our members—emergency dispatchers, emergency medical professionals, and firefighters—are the ones who answer the call when our community needs us most. The candidates we endorse have stood with those who risk it all for the citizens of St. Louis. Supporting them means supporting us, and we cannot thank you enough for that.

Cara Spencer - for Mayor
Cara Spencer has been a steadfast supporter of public safety and St. Louis firefighters throughout her time in public service. Her track record speaks for itself:
• A proven advocate for timely and professional 911 emergency response.
• Committed to raising salaries and benefits for first responders to improve morale, recruitment, and retention.
• Supports smarter recruitment practices to build a more diverse public safety workforce.
• Ensures emergency shelters are open and available before dangerous weather hits—because saving lives comes first.
• Voted to overturn the mayor’s veto to protect Firefighters’ Retirement and reduce administrative costs to the city.
• Voted to remove retirement penalties for younger firefighters with 30 years of service—restoring fairness for those who risk their lives daily.
• Believes in improving trust in City Leadership through transparency and accountability.

Anne Schweitzer - Alderwoman 1st Ward
Anne Schweitzer has made public safety a top priority in her work on the Board of Aldermen. Her advocacy includes:
• Actively holding absentee owners of vacant buildings accountable— keeping our firefighters and neighborhoods safer.
• Supported the some of the largest raises in decades for Firefighters, Emergency Dispatchers, and Police Officers.
• Worked in strong partnership with labor unions and continues to push for meaningful dialogue and negotiations with the Administration.
• Voted to overturn the mayor’s veto and safeguard the Firefighters’ Retirement Plan, ensuring fiscal responsibility and fairness.
• Supported giving firefighters their time back by eliminating early retirement penalties after 30 years of service.

Alisha Sonnier - Alderwoman 7th Ward
Alisha Sonnier has proven her commitment to public safety and the well-being of our firefighters through action:

•Helped remove penalties on firefighters who retire after 30 years of service—respecting their sacrifice and dedication.
